At one time, chemotherapy was the new and revolutionary cancer drug on the block. Now, Israeli medical company Immune Pharmaceuticals has taken things up a notch.
Immune Pharmaceuticals’ newest project uses a chemical compound called a monoclonal bioconjugate to deliver cancer medication directly to the cancerous cells like a “targeted missile,” explains Immune Pharmaceuticals CEO Daniel Teper.
This ‘targeted missile’ method of treating cancer is something I have heard all my life. In the early 1990s, my Saba (grandfather), David Willner, was part of the research team at Bristol-Myers Squibb that first developed this revolutionary technology. His research was published in the Journal of Bioconjugate Chemistry and Science Magazine, and his teachings were passed on to students at the Weizmann Institute in Israel.
My Saba is an Israeli immigrant to the United States. Now, his research is coming full circle, being produced by a two-year-old company in Israel to treat cancer around the world.
